Tom Price is an excellent destination for families. In addition to the community swimming pool, tennis courts, skate park, and playground, the Shire introduced a cutting-edge pump track in 2022, offering a state-of-the-art recreational experience.

Kings Lake

Prepare a picnic and venture to Kings Lake, a well-loved recreational space nestled in a natural bush environment, complete with barbecues and gazebos. This idyllic spot is favoured for bird watching and provides a tranquil setting to relax and unwind.

Mount Sheila

Mount Sheila is a great drive and viewpoint. Located less than an 1 hour from Tom Price, on the Rio Tinto Rail Access Road (permits may be obtained from the Tom Price Visitor Centre). Mount Sheila offers spectacular views looking out over the Hamersley Ranges.

Access is by 4WD only.

Mount Nameless/Jarndunmunha

Located 4km from town, Mount Nameless/Jarndunmunha offers panoramic views of the Tom Price town site and the Tom Price Iron Ore Mine.

Mount Nameless/Jarndunmunha is best visited at sunrise or sunset. You can hike or 4WD your way up to witness the breathtaking views and colours of Tom Price. The walk is a 2.5 hour return trip so remember to take water with you. The 4WD track is also only recommended for experienced drivers due to steep inclines and unstable terrain.

Tom Price Mine Tour

Rio Tinto Iron Ore Mine Site Tour Iron Ore mining is the beating heart of Tom Price and a visit to the Rio Tinto open-cut mine is an absolute ‘must do’. The sheer scale of this mine is impressive, being one of the largest open-cut iron ore mines in the world. During a 90-minute tour, visitors experience the working trucks, shovels and drills, the crushing and screening plants and the train loading area.

Guests are picked up from the Tom Price Visitor Centre and travel by air-conditioned bus to the mine.
