Standing tall at 747 metres above sea level, Tom Price is officially the highest town in Western Australia. Tom Price is home to Mount Nameless or Jarndunmunha (elevation 1,128 metres).

Mining

Iron Ore mining is the beating heart of Tom Price and a visit to the Rio Tinto open-cut mine is an absolute ‘must do’. The sheer scale of this mine is impressive, being one of the largest open-cut iron ore mines in the world. During a 90-minute tour, visitors experience the working trucks, shovels and drills, the crushing and screening plants and the train load out area.

Mt Nameless

Located 4km from town, Mt Nameless offers panoramic views of the Tom Price town site and the Hamersley Iron Mine. Mt Nameless is best visited at sunrise or sunset. You can hike or 4WD your way up to witness the breathtaking views and colours of Tom Price. The walk is a 2.5 hour return trip so remember to take water with you. The 4WD track is also only recommended for experienced drivers due to steep inclines and unstable terrain.
